President Benigno S. Aquino III delivered his 5th State of the Nation Address or SONA last July 28, 2014, in the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City.
The President commenced his speech with a popular saying, "Ang hindi lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan." He then started recounting the miseries , chaos and problems of a very unstable and poor Philippines at the start of his reign. The President's speech lasted for an hour and a half, which focused on the Aquino administration's achievements. He even presented the beneficiaries and recipients of the so called “ tuwid na daan “. Many are still waiting, aiming , and hoping for the warmth and sincere touch of the governments.
Towards the last part of his SONA, Aquino's voice broke down while recalling the memory of his parents, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late President Corazon Aquino. The President mentioned one of the famous lines of his father " the Filipino is worth dying for, the Filipino is worth living for, and he added , “the Filipino is definitely worth fighting for,"
In sincere humility , he appealed to be given the chance to go on and finished what he had started to bring his countrymen back to the “tuwid na daan” leading to a more economically stable , progressive and peaceful Philippines.
