Regional Teacher
Education Student Congress with a theme, “the 21st Century Student
Teachers, their Roles and Opportunities”. August 8, 2014, Friday at Capitol
University Gymnatorium. This was incorporated by Philippine Association for
Teacher Education Region X (PAFTE-10) and Association of Students in Teacher
Education in Region X (ASTER-10) and Capitol University.
The program started
at exactly 8:30 in the morning and around 1,500 student teachers from different
schools inside Region 10 are participating in this event. Fourth-year students
of Bachelor of Elementary Education in Fatima College of Camiguin are one of
the participants in the said event in which they traveled from Mambajao,
Camiguin Province to Cagayan de Oro City just to attend in this special event
for Student Teachers. Each school is preparing an ice breaker like dance, song,
and research papers to present.
Dr. Romeo Daligdig
gives the introduction of the program and stated the mission and vision of the
PAFTE and ASTER and its aim which is to acquire the Global Standards of the 21st
century teacher. This was followed by a Welcome remark which was given by Dr.
Kampuno and the participants are entertained by the presentation of the yells
of different schools.
The first guest
speaker, Dr. Cherry Mae A. Limbaco Ph.D., gives his lectures about how to
become an affective global teacher. She also stated the guidelines on how to
apply as a Teacher-I in Department of Education.
“Good Teachers are
costly, the bad teachers costs more”, this was uttered by the second guest
speaker, Dr. Beatriz G. Torno, Ph.D. She gives lectures about the
characteristics of the 21st Century Teacher, Appreciative Inquiry
(AI), and other important information about the millennial teacher.
The orientation
ended at exactly 5:00 in the afternoon. The participants of the event are now
inspired and enjoyed upon hearing all the lectures of different guest speakers.
This may now being internalized and applied in pursuing their dreams, to become
a teacher. PAFTE and ASTER lends giveaways to every participants of this event.
