It’s More Fun in Mantigue Island

Wanted to enjoy your vacation, to have fun for leisure and to relax from all the stress you carry from school, office or work and yet still unsure of where and what place to visit?

        Mantigue is a small mushroom-shaped island inhabited in the north by some families of fisher folk. Inland, the landscape consists of lush green forest where you can roam around to enjoy its natural beauty.  Along one coast is a pristine beach with soft white sand and shallow waters. The crystal clear waters of Mantigue will amaze your senses – with corals and fishes easy to view even from a boat. On the other hand, the opposite side of the island is a deep drop-off suitable for diving and snorkeling. There is a wide variety of fish species thrive in the crystal clear waters surrounding Mantigue Island. Vibrant colors of corals greet your eyes as you snorkel in the peaceful waters. For extra precaution, be careful not to step on the corals or on the spiky spines of sea urchins. There’s plenty of that at Mantigue, so, be careful.

        For its travelling fees, the boat station going to Mantigue Island is located in Barangay San Roque, Mahinog, less than 5 minutes from Port of Benoni and more or less 30 minutes away from Mambajao (the capital town of the province).  Boat rental costs P550.00, maximum of 6 person, life jacket is already included. The entrance fee is P20.00 only. There is a restaurant/canteen in the island. Cooking is allowed – NO FEE.  There are also picnic huts for rent inside the Mantigue Nature Park and it cost more or less P50.00.  Overnight stay in the island is not allowed.  Be sure to leave the Island before 4:00 PM.

        In addition to that, if you’re a very adventurous person and loves challenges, snorkeling and diving is a must-try for you since Mantigue Island has a marine sanctuary.  If you have your own gears/equipment, snorkeling Fee is P50.00 but if you don’t have, you can rent from the stall for P250.00.

        All in all Mantigue Island is a great place to relax and unwind. Its beautiful sceneries, clear water, powdery white sand, must-try activities such as snorkeling and diving and many more you can do and explore within the Island lets you experience an exciting vacation .
