Hot Water and Digestion

Haven't you notice? People nowadays were so much concerned with how they look like. Spending about an hour and a half talking to mirrors, chanting "Mirror mirror on the wall, am I the fairest above all?". Physical appearance, body built, slim waistlines, vegetarian savvy, joining yoga sessions, zumba classes, and triathlons, etc. this things adds up to a lot of stresses most encounter, but according to them, this bodily activities what makes them happy. Our systems, rituals and traditions were based on sound logic and health aspects were taken seriously even in the balancing of dishes cooked for a meal.

“The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals, not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating”. This is a message that is doing the rounds where it talks about heart attacks.

This is a warning for those ice water fiends. Having a glass of iced water after your meals has been declared a negative intake. It says that the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just eaten and slow down the digestion. Once this ‘sludge’ reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will then line the intestine, turn into fats and lead to other problems like obesity and cancer. The advice is to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal; a little warm water at least 15 minutes before you go to sleep will keep you cheerful and healthy say the pundits.

Everything you eat and drink matches your internal body temperature fairly quickly once it’s in your stomach, and cold liquids do not “solidify fats” as anything solid is broken by the stomach’s powerful acids.

Many cultures encourage sipping warm tea throughout the meal to aid better digestion. Benefits of warm water after lunch may include aiding better digestion, increasing metabolism, and washing down the meal you have eaten. Additionally, advantages of drinking warm water after meals may increase weight loss. While there is no proven science to indicate that warm water after meals may help you lose calories, drinking a glass of warm water may satisfy your hunger and fill you up. It is a zero calorie fluid, and this should allow you to eat your recommended portion of meal without being tempted to go in for seconds. Warm water after a greasy meal may help you wash down rich, heavy foods and aid digestion faster. You may also consider drinking a cup of warm tea or soup after meals to stimulate your digestive glands.

Something that is so healthy and good for you, if not performing miracles, is going to have a positive impact on your health. One of the biggest beliefs is to control what you can, and don’t worry about the rest. Something like drinking a glass of water everyday is certainly under your control, so why not do it.
